Being sensitive isn’t a weakness, but it sure does feel like it sometimes.

Do any of the following resonate with you?

  • You are burning yourself out, trying to do everything correctly.

  • You feel things deeply and often feel like an outsider.

  • You have great ideas for your life, but a lack of confidence and bouts of being overwhelmed are holding you back.

  • You compare yourself to others and often don’t feel good enough.

  • You often feel overwhelmed by people and your environment.

  • You people please and struggle to say no without feeling bad.

  • You need more downtime than others and feel guilty about it.

  • You may have felt misunderstood, labeled, or judged for how you are (“you’re so sensitive”).

If these sound true to you, I want you to know that even though you may feel like you are the only one who is like this, you aren’t! Around 20% of humans have a more finely tuned nervous system—you were built this way. Here is a test you can fill out to see if you are on the HSP spectrum:

Many people in your circumstances need support, considering your many challenges. You don’t have to keep putting yourself last, caring for everyone else before you take care of yourself.

You’re not alone. Counseling for highly sensitive people can help you gain the courage to be your true self.

It’s possible to feel better. Imagine you could…

  • Create a more meaningful life based on who you are and what you desire.

  • Feel more confident in your decisions and actions by accepting and understanding who you are.

  • Focus on what you want and need instead of being driven by what others expect.

  • Learn new ways to care for yourself, heal yourself, and manage your emotions.

My name is Amanda Rebel, and I am a counselor and fellow HSP who is here to help.

How counseling for highly sensitive people works

Counseling for Highly Sensitive People (HSP) consists of 50-minute, one-on-one sessions to help you resolve your concerns. In addition to listening, I will ask questions and share thoughts. When it’s helpful, I play an active role. Here’s how it will work step-by-step:

1. I provide a calm, accepting space so that you will feel comfortable sharing your struggles with me.

2. Through hearing your story, I will start to get a picture of what your challenges are.

3. We will start by helping you with immediate concerns like managing difficult emotions and challenging life situations. We will also work to discover your goals in therapy and life.

4. Keeping your unique goals in mind, we’ll figure out what’s needed to help you reach them

5. Over our sessions, you will start progressing towards the life you desire.

Research shows that counseling for the highly sensitive can positively change your thinking, beliefs, emotions, and behaviors. It can help you let go of what’s holding you back.
